A 2 day training course designed for plumbing and heating engineers who want to design / install / service / maintain vented and unvented domestic hot water storage systems in line with Regulations and Guidance. The course is heavily focused around Building Regulations Approved Document G3 and is a legal requirement for those looking to install an unvented hot water system over 15 litres.
N.B. Significant experience in plumbing / heating within the last five years or be studying towards or qualified to NVQ Level 2, is a pre-requisite to attendance.
How is this training delivered?
Learning will come in a classroom environment in the form of trainer explanation, group discussions, group exercises, a practical demonstration and and will be broken up with breakout sessions.
Assessment of learning will be based around three multiple choice papers testing knowledge of all aspects of the course:
- Assessment 1 Part 1 – (Open Book) Diagram fault finding in connection with D1/D2 pipework / the tundish / termination (9 Questions / Pass mark – 7 out of 9).
- Assessment 1 Part 2 – (Open Book) Identification of the correct function of hot water system components (12 Questions / Pass mark – 9/12). 40 minutes allowed for parts 1 and 2 in total.
- Assessment 2 – Closed Book Multiple Choice Assessment focused around Design / Installation / Rules / Regulations / Maintenance / Fault Finding (7 Questions / Pass mark 5 out of 7). 15 minutes allowed.
- Assessment 3 – open Book Multiple Choice Assessment focused around Design / Installation / Rules / Regulations / Maintenance / Fault Finding 33 Questions / Pass mark 25 out of 33). 1 hour allowed.
A re-sit opportunity is permitted on the day for learners achieving less than the desired pass rate but greater than 60%.
All assessments must be achieved for an overall course certification.
Learners not reaching the desired pass will be referred for additional learning.
