  • Backflow and contamination.
  • Definitions, risk assessment, hazard types, fluid categories, protection methods and devices, whole site and zone protection, requirements and specifications.
  • Hot and cold water systems.
  • Interpretation of plans, design flow rates, cooling and heating systems, grey water systems, frost protection, disinfection, pressure testing, multi-storey and multi occupied buildings.
  • Water fittings and materials.
  • Quality standards and codes of practice, suitability, acceptance marks, water fittings external to buildings, materials, evaluations and testing.
  • Legal and notification.
  • Legal requirements and information gathering, recording of data, enforcement notice/responses, standard letters, follow up procedures, practical exercises.

What qualifications will you achieve?

  • This course incorporates assessment and certification under the City and Guilds Frontline Skills Framework Utilities 5831 scheme unit 280 Water Regulations for Enforcement Staff or Unit 285 Water Regulations for Building Services Personnel / Contractors.

How is this training delivered?

  • Theory is delivered in the classroom.
  • This course can be intense, it includes evening work, both the reading of course materials and completion of projects.

  • Delegates can bring with them any materials used in their work, copies of risk assessments or management systems so that they can see how their materials fit in to the context of the training.
