Surface Water Flooding Incidents: Awareness (SWFA) training course

A 1 day training course for delegates supporting flood defence and flood incident management, particularly those in support roles communicating with the public on flood defences and with front line operatives when incidents occur. The course is relevant to local councils, RNLI, fire and rescue services and any organisations that are deemed to be category 1 and 2 responders to incidents of surface water flooding.

How is this training delivered?

  • The theory of the course is delivered in the classroom, but there is an emphasis on hands on practical training and demonstration wherever possible.

What do I need to bring with me?

  • Delegates should bring waterproof clothing for outdoor demonstrations.
  • Delegates can bring with them any materials used by their own employer, copies of risk assessments or management systems so that they can see how their materials fit in to the context of the training.
