Ensure your Utility Supervisors make the Grade

Develop Training are please to announce the launch of their new Utility Network Construction Supervisor Qualification specifically designed for front line supervisors working in the utility sector.

In conjunction with EU Skills and a number of key clients, comprising of Network Owners and major utility contractors, Develop have identified the new scheme as a vital qualification for both existing staff and those new to a supervisory role. It became apparent that whilst there are many training awards available for managers, there is no equivalent for supervisors to help them to reach their full potential in their current or new job role. This is where Develop can help.

'The Utility Construction Supervisor Scheme was developed as a result of demand from contractor employees for a Supervisor level award. Develop Training have been granted the first EU Skills approved scheme to deliver this qualification due to their expertise and experience in the area', Brian Tranter, EU Skills.

The award is completely unique to Develop, as they are the only training provider that can offer the EU Skills accredited qualification, which caters equally to both Gas and Water areas in the Utilities Industry. It acts a stamp of competence at supervisor level and in many cases, it will represent the first management qualification that the majority of candidates will undertake and achieve.

A number of major utility companies have already expressed interested in the new qualification for supervisory staff using Develops proposed route to achievement including; United Utilities Operations Ltd.

The qualification will help candidates to develop the key skills needed to become an effective leader, enabling them to get the best out of their team, enhance productivity and improve working relations. Evidence of competence will also be gathered at each stage of the award as proof of the candidate's capability in: The Working Environment, Planning and Organisation, Productivity and Performance and Technical Skills and Knowledge. This competence will be further tested in the workplace by direct observation of the candidate at work, which will include a recorded professional discussion.

Candidates who successfully complete the award will receive a certificate of achievement and be entered at the supervisor level on the EU Skills database and be issued the relevant registration card as proof of their new capabilities.
