Bank of England hires DTL to deliver electrical training

06 September 2018

Electrics aren't the first thing that come to mind when one thinks of the Bank of England, however that's exactly what Develop Training Ltd (DTL) will be training a number of their staff on in the coming months.

DTL is thrilled to announce its appointment to deliver a range of high and low voltage training, including the recently updated 18th Edition electrical wiring standard BS7671, to the Bank of England. DTL is also working with the Bank to create a bespoke programme for Authorised Person qualifications.

UK-wide delivery

The training programmes will be delivered at various locations across the UK, including DTL's dedicated HV training facilities in Derby and York.

Bespoke programmes

James Cashley, HV Lecturer at DTL, said: “We are delighted that the Bank of England has chosen DTL for its electrical training. We look forward to working with them and helping to ensure that their employees are up to speed on all the latest regulations and trained to the highest standards. We’re also pleased to be delivering a mix of both set courses and bespoke courses designed specifically for the Bank of England’s needs.”

18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations

BS7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) sets the standards for electrical installation in the UK and many other countries. The 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations were released in July, with a number of substantial updates from the 17th Edition.

In response to the recently updated electrical wiring standard, DTL is offering two new training courses for electricians to comply with the new regulations.

Three day course

DTL is running an intensive three-day course for operatives with responsibility for the design, installation or maintenance of electrical systems. The course is designed for electrically trained engineers/craftsmen to attain a benchmark qualification relating to the 18th Edition, which will become the national standard from January 1, 2019.

One day course

For electricians who have successfully attained 17th Edition certification within the past 6 months, DTL is providing a one-day refresher course.

As a result of the regulatory changes and DTL's electrical expertise, the company has been booked by a number of household name utility and construction companies to provide 18th Edition training and ensure that their employees are fully compliant.
