Charity cake sale showcases baking talent at DTL
07 April 2017
The sweet tooth of delegates and staff alike were being satisfied at DTL's Derby training centre today as money was raised for charity with a cake sale.
A variety of sweet treats are being sold to raise funds for local charity Sporting Futures, which aims to lift the aspirations of young people by providing them with opportunities to achieve their potential and improve their lives through the power of sport.
The cakes were baked by a number of DTL staff, and include chocolate & Guinness, Almond & Orange, Coffee & Walnut, Marshmallow & Chocolate cornflake, sticky carrot cake and fairy cakes.
Prizes were awarded to the baker of the best cake, as judged by senior management.
The cake sale was the idea of Sophie Shields, Finance Assistant at DTL, who said: "Doing something for charity brings out the best, most generous side of people and that has been the case ever since we announced this cake sale. We chose to support Sporting Futures because of their work with young people in the community, some of whom might one day go through one of our apprenticeship programmes."
