Confined Spaces Awareness seminar a hit with delegates
14 September 2017
Develop Training Ltd (DTL)'s York centre was the setting yesterday for the latest of DTL's popular Confined Spaces Awareness seminars. Delegates from across the North of England, representing Martin Engineering Ltd, Thomas Armstrong Ltd, Hull & East Yorkshire Hospitals and the York Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, were present to learn about the key regulations concerning confined spaces.
Lecturers Chris Parker and Chris Tennant led the group through the identification of confined spaces, mitigation of risks and previous disasters - including the Aberfan tragedy - that claimed the lives of many people.
Delegates were also briefed on the HSE's Code of Practice for Confined Spaces before being given a tour of the Confined Spaces training facilities at DTL's York centre, which included detail on breathing apparatus escape sets and suitable winching equipment for safe egress.
Delegates also received a copy of our whitepaper ‘CONFINED SPACES: Training and Compliance for Safe Working’, which considers everything from confined spaces definition and their associated risks to employers’ duties and training requirements as set out in UK legislation.
