DTL Supports Utility Streetworks Conference

05 March 2015

DTL Supports Utility Streetworks Conference

Develop Training (DTL), the UK's leading accredited provider of Compliance, Technical, and Safety Training, recently exhibited at this year's Utility Street Works 2015 seminar hosted by the Energy and Utility Alliance (EUA). The conference, which took place on 5th March 2015, was held at the Cavendish Conference Centre, London.

With traffic on UK roads set to increase by 43% between 2010-2040, and the number of road works hitting up to 4,516 per day the importance of actively embracing and enabling newer and safer ways of working on our roads has never been higher. There was, therefore, much to discuss at the annual EUA Street Works seminar with the main focus being on the need for innovative products and services to help effectively manage upcoming road infrastructure projects. However, as commented by the Department of Transport on the day, plans to invest heavily in road infrastructure may change following the outcome of this year’s election.

DTL's skilled Streetworks training team exhibited at the event in order to showcase the company's leading Streetworks Training solutions. Attending the event allowed DTL to keep abreast of the latest industry requirements and issues. The event also allowed DTL to meet some of the sector's most influential organisations, many of which already work closely with Develop Training in order to build the skills and knowledge of their workforce.

The EUA provides a leading industry voice, helping shape the future policy direction within the energy and utility sectors. As such, the event saw a number of industry-leading organisations in attendance. These included the Department for Transport, Westminster City Council, Balfour Beatty, National Grid and Bristol Water. Each was keen to share their thoughts on the future of the industry.

There was also an array of expert speakers offering information and advice on every aspect of Streetworks. Key talks from the event included:

  • A policy update from the Department for Transport.
  • A legal view of Streetworks.
  • Meeting the challenges of Streetworks up to 2040.
  • Engaging the customer in Streetworks.

DTL was delighted to attend the seminar, met clients and assured itself that it remains at the leading edge of utility sector training solutions.
