DTL welcomes new Gas Distribution Lecturer, Darren Hill
15 October 2018
Develop Training Ltd (DTL) has recently welcomed Darren Hill into its Gas Distribution team as a Gas Distribution Lecturer.
Sitting within Jim Donnelly’s team, Darren will deliver NCO and Service Laying training, assessment and practical exercises to learners across all of DTL’s centres. He will also be responsible for assisting with the on-going review and development of the gas product portfolio.
Darren's career comes full circle
Darren began his career in gas over 15 years ago and undertook his initial training at DTL’s Derby training centre when the company was previously known as WTI – the very centre at which he is now based! Over the past 15 years Darren has undertaken various roles including Service Layer, Mains Layer and most recently Gas Team Leader. The breadth of these roles means that Darren brings with him a vast wealth of ‘on the tools’ experience that he’ll pass on to the delegates he’s now teaching.
Looking forward to passing on skills and knowledge
Darren explains, “I’m really excited to have joined DTL as it’s the place where my gas career began all those years ago! I’m looking forward to passing on the skills and knowledge I’ve gained along the way and teaching those within the industry what I know. This is a completely different role for me and I’ve still got a lot to learn myself, but I think that my industry experience will stand me in good stead and help me to build rapport and gain respect from the delegates I’m going to be teaching.”
An avid sports enthusiast
In his spare time Darren, who lives in Ilkeston, enjoys spending time with his partner of 18 years, Rebecca, and their three energetic boys! He’s also an avid sports fan; taking part in sports such as football, golf, swimming and cycling most weekends.
