Chris Wood, CEO of Develop Training Ltd (DTL), has been discussing the UK skills shortage in the London Evening Standard.

In response to comments made by Home Secretary Amber Rudd at this week's Conservative Party conference, Chris said:

"The Home Secretary, Amber Rudd, told the Conservative Party conference yesterday that Britain will not win in the world if we do not do more to provide our young workers with skills. In fact, the need to train young people is more pressing than that.

The skills crisis in the utility and construction sectors has reached such catastrophic proportions that unless we attract and train large numbers of young people to take up apprenticeships and replace an ageing workforce, the lights of Britain will literally go out."
