16 February 2016
Develop Training Ltd (DTL) were joined by key personalities from the utilities sector last week as we hosted the inaugural meeting of the newly-formed Industry Skills Forum.
Set up by DTL to understand the challenges faced by a variety of industries while facilitating the sharing of knowledge in an attempt to more fully understand and address the issues, the Forum welcomed representatives from Balfour Beatty, Siemens, SGN, Servelec Controls, Mentor Training and more.
Over the course of a full day of discussions, the Forum explored the impact of the skills crisis being felt by UK industry now, the value of apprenticeships in addressing the problem, and the role e-learning and maximising return on training investment can play.
"We are all to aware of the UK's current skills shortage and, as such, are keen to explore what we can do to help key business leaders address this, whilst also facilitating opportunities to understand and share experiences, innovative technologies and best practice," said Chris Wood, CEO of Develop Training, "Our vision is that the Forum will become a collective voice, which will be identified as a principal driver behind training and development thought leadership."
