17th Edition Wiring
The 17th Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations (BS 7671:2008 Requirements for Electrical Installation) was published in January 2008 and is the standard to which all electrical installations designed after the 30th June 2008 must comply.
The latest City and Guilds 17th Edition qualifications are called the 2382-10 and 2382-20. The 2382-20 exam being an 'update' exam for those who are up to date with the 16th Edition and simply need to update to the 17th Edition Regulations.
One of the more significant changes since the 16th Edition is (chapter 41) that 30 mA RCDs will be required for socket outlets that are for use by ordinary persons and are intended for general use. This improves the level of protection against electrical shock in the UK to a level comparable to that in other EU countries. The 17th edition incorporates new sections relating to microgeneration and solar photovoltaic systems.
The new City & Guilds 17th Edition exams can be taken at our City & Guilds approved centres in Swindon and York as well as a location of your choice.
PAT Testing
The only nationally recognised qualification of competence in PAT Testing is offered by City & Guilds 2377.
We offer 3 variants of the City & Guilds 2377 Scheme, these being the Management of Maintenance (2377-11) the Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment (2377-12) as well as the two courses combined into two consecutive days (2377-11&12).
