AND ASSESSMENT EVENTS
What are the Water UK National
Confined Spaces Competency Standards?
Published in January 2004, these
standards apply to all people
working in or at confined spaces
on behalf of water companies
in the UK. They were developed
at the request of the Health
and Safety Executive, to standardise
requirements and procedures
and to simplify the method of
demonstrating staff competence.
At the heart of the Water UK
Guidelines is the identification
of four national classifications
of Confined Spaces Working.
Based upon assessed risks,
nationally agreed standards
of competence have been written
and endorsed by the whole industry.
HOW
CAN DEVELOP HELP?
Develop training and assessment
events and facilities have been
developed specifically to meet
the requirements of the Water
UK Confined Spaces standards.
The modules are designed to
enable contractors working for
UK water companies to ensure
their staff are qualified under
the new four-level classification
systems for confined space entries.
