Description:
A foundation level training course designed to promote a basic understanding of the abstraction licensing function and the techniques and principal procedures applied by the Environment Agency in exercising that function.
Who would Benefit:
Members of Field Service Delivery Teams and others employed by the Environment Agency, who are new to the work involved in processing and determining Applications for a License to Abstract Water and the subsequent enforcement of the terms of abstraction licenses.

- Future developments in the law and practice of water resources management and abstraction licensing system in England and Wales
Training Information:
Intending participants are required to complete set pre-course work to prepare them with a common foundation level of knowledge, which is further developed as the course progresses.
Training methods centre on group participation in a multi-stage exercise simulating all the steps involved in the determination of a complex licence application. Short presentations are delivered throughout the exercise to enhance understanding of particular issues prior to the exercise stage at which they are of particular relevance.
At the close of the course participants complete a post course questionnaire designed to assess the level of knowledge and understanding that they have attained.
