N.B. This is a Virtual classroom course.
A City & Guilds accredited programme to develop the skills and knowledge of those working in, or aspiring to work in, a role assessing operational competence in the workplace. It has been developed for those working in accredited learning, non-accredited learning, the NQF and QCF.
Learners attending the course, which can take up to 9 months, depending on individual requirements, must be part of an established assessment delivery team and be working with at least two candidates.
What you will learn
The TAQA qualifications consist of a mix of units - some competence based and some knowledge based. The knowledge only unit (Understanding the principals and practices of Assessment) allows anyone who is interested in, or needs to know about, assessment and quality assurance, but is not a practitioner, to acquire knowledge and information about the roles.
The units which are practice based require the candidate to complete the learning outcomes which are listed in our skills scan and documentation given on the induction day.
Unit 301: Understanding the Principals and Practices of Assessment
- A knowledge only unit for those who need to know about assessment, but who are not currently practicing e.g. aspiring assessors or quality managers.
Unit 302: Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment
- For practitioners who assess the achievement of competences in a work environment using the following assessment methods: observation, examining work products, oral questioning and discussion, use of others (e.g. witnesses), learner statements and Recognised Prior Learning (RPL).
Unit 303: Assessing vocational skills, knowledge and understanding
- For practitioners who assess achievement in vocationally-related situations. For example, in classrooms or workshops and for those who use the following assessment methods: assessments in simulated environments; skills tests; oral and written questions; assignments; projects; cased studies and RPL.
How is this training delivered?
Online delivery via Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
The objective of the programme is to develop the knowledge and skills of the learner while they progress their own dedicated candidates. In doing so, they will generate the appropriate evidence for their TAQA qualification. The following summarises how this can be delivered as candidate(s) are given one-to-one support and can work towards the qualification at their individual pace, taking into account work commitments.
- Day One Induction Day - induction and explanation of TAQA Programme - provided at client's site.
- Throughout the programme - Use of Learning Assistant to manage the program and portfolio build by each candidate.
- Registration will take place through Awarding Body for each candidate who attended induction and has completed registration documentation.
- On-going monthly contact, via email or telephone for general queries, problem solving, advice and guidance.
- Midway Interim Internal Verification for each candidate inducted and registered.
- Scheduled during programme - Observation Day, discussions and final assessment - one day per candidate at their site location.
- Final Internal Verification of program for each candidate inducted and registered.
- Certification after completion subject to internal verification process.
Throughout the programme there would be regular phone/email reviews to establish progress and action planning.
