Course overview

A 3 day blended-learning training course for suitably experienced persons being considered for the duties of authorised person (high voltage electrical) or senior authorised person (high voltage electrical) with respect to HV distribution systems.

This course consists of an online learning section that can be completed by learners at their own pace, followed by 3 days in centre to complete practical work and final assessments.

  • Records and documentation.
  • Cable location and identification.
  • Testing/commissioning of electrical distribution equipment.

What qualifications will you achieve?

  • The output from this course is a recommendation to support an Authorising Engineer's decision when considering the appointment of Authorised Person's.
  • This course also incorporates assessment and certification under the City and Guilds. This is awarded to learners who demonstrate a higher level of competence in the course assessments.

How is this training delivered?

  • Learners will complete online modules and ongoing assessments
  • Upon completion of online modules, learners complete practical exercises that involve the management, application and control of documentation in centre.
  • Learners are continually assessed, both in written and practical exercises, and there are opportunities to work with a wide range of equipment that will support their knowledge in the field.

What do I need to bring with me?

  • Learners can bring with them any materials used by their own employer, copies of risk assessments or management systems so that they can see how their materials fit in to the context of the training.
  • Learners must bring safety boots and safety glasses, and waterproof clothing for outdoor practical exercises.
