Blended training course for practicing electricians to gain an understanding of the IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment (4th edition), covering legislation, design, selection and commissioning of the final installation.
This course covers all the key skills to install, fault find and inspect and test electric vehicle charging points.

Pre-requisite/entry requirements
There are no formal requirements for this course however the course is intended for practicing electricians so delegates should have a thorough understanding of:
- Electrical installation techniques.
- Inspection and testing of electrical installations.
- 18th Edition Wiring regulations BS7671.
If not, we recommend the following courses are taken prior to taking this training:
- Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671:2018)

Delegates will be taught how to design, specify, install, fault find, test and inspect electric vehicle charging points for the domestic, commercial and industrial sectors.
Course content:
- How to install electric vehicle charging equipment for domestic locations.
- Application of statutory legislation.
- Applicable installation and earthing methods.
- Completion of suitable installation risk assessment as required by the Code of Practice.
- Calculating system design and installation requirements.
- The testing and commissioning of the installation.

- A copy of the IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation - ISBN 978-1839531804.
- BS 7671:2018 IET Wiring Regulations : 18th edition, including the latest amendment.
- Your own tester if preferred – we have a varied range in our centres.
How is the training delivered?
- 1 day in a virtual classroom (Microsoft Teams or Zoom), followed by 1 day in a practical training facility for the online and practical assessments.
- The qualification is assessed through a 40 question open book online multiple choice exam and a 3 hour observed practical exercise.
Qualifications available
- This course incorporates assessment and certification under the awarding body City and Guilds. Upon successful completion, the delegate will be issued with C&G 2919-01: Level 3 Award In Domestic, Commercial and Industrial Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation.
