Course for suitably experienced mechanical and electrical personnel who are currently practicing as high voltage authorised persons and have been nominated for re-appointment. Those with less experience may find the full Authorised Person: High Voltage (Industrial and Commercial) course more appropriate. Note, there is not a First Aid element within this refresher.

What you’ll learn on this course

You will revisit requirements of statutory regulation/legislation.
High Voltage Safety Rules and Procedures.
High Voltage equipment and protection.
HV ring and radial systems.
Operating records and documentation.

What do I need to bring with Me?

Learners can bring with them any materials used by their own employer, copies of risk assessments or management systems so that they can see how their materials fit in to the context of the training.

How is the training delivered?

Learners complete exercises that involve the management, application and control of documentation.
Learners are continually assessed, both in knowledge and scenario exercises.
This course can be intense, it includes evening work, both the reading of course materials and completion of projects.

Qualifications available

This course incorporates assessment and certification under the City and Guilds Accredited Scheme.
The output from this course is a recommendation to support an Authorising Engineer's decision when considering the appointment of Authorised Person's.

I feel the course covered what was expected, however I would of appreciated some practical work as it is always interresting to work on/operate different types of switchgear particularly after going through the theory. The trainer also could of encouradged more debate within the room as this is usually interresting to get other peoples views and experience whilst working on HV switchgear.
