We are thrilled to welcome Beci Smithurst to our certification team based at our newly refurbished Derby training centre. Beci joins us for 9 months as maternity cover for one of our Senior Administrators.
Beci’s career has been dedicated to various healthcare roles, beginning with a series of challenging roles in care homes, where she compassionately provided care to individuals with dementia and those in need of specialised end-of-life support. This challenging environment taught her invaluable skills in handling difficult situations and adapting to unique challenges every day. She then transitioned into call handling and administration for district nurses and physiotherapy, further expanding her expertise and knowledge.
When asked about her transition to Develop, Beci shared her excitement, “This role is very different from anything I’ve done before, as I’ve previously worked in highly stressful healthcare environments. I’m delighted to be part of a more relaxed and friendly team here at Develop.”
One of Beci’s proudest achievements sets her apart – learning to read and write. Despite severe dyslexia, Beci overcame this challenge and learned to read and write at the age of 9. Beci has since had several books and poems published.
Away from work
Beyond her professional life, Beci finds joy in hands-on activities, particularly crafting, painting and crocheting. Recently, she also embarked on a new venture, starting her own part-time nail business.
